It is impossible to prove that GOD is good and does not lie to us or deceive us, but this belief allows us to advance in learning, understanding, acquiring knowledge, and developing better values and views. If we assume that GOD is evil or deceptive, then every thought and feeling becomes questionable, and we can go nowhere.
Since there is no way to find out which of the two options is correct, the obvious choice is the more
proactive and constructive option, according to which, GOD is good, faithful, and a truth-teller.
In a nutshell, we need to acknowledge that we can’t know if GOD is good or evil. If we believe that GOD is untrustworthy and evil, we must be untrustworthy and evil because we are supposedly made in his image. An evil GOD would not have a heaven that he promises to us. An evil GOD would not have helped us in our times of need, and there are plenty of times it appears that he does. We want to believe we are inherently good, which means we have to believe that GOD is good.
To believe he is evil would create a world of distrust in ourselves and the environment, which we refuse to do to ourselves. We can’t believe weare evil. GOD is supposed to be someone who saves us, not deceives us.
However, if we want to believe in goodness and want to grow and learn more about him, we need to go with the concept that GOD is good.
We need to create this foundation of goodness to hold onto because our world can feel out of control. We need a good GOD to make us feel safe and that there is a more special, safer place than this Earth waiting for us after this life. A good GOD is a foundation for us to learn and gain knowledge about ourselves and more. So, for now, let’s hold onto the concept that GOD is a good GOD.
